AJA offers a revolutionary way to travel the subcontinent based on the understanding that the heartbeat of India is the voice of its people.

Guides/translators facilitate respectful conversations with Indian people in whom the true story of India resides - in the stories of Rajasthani Bhopa Gypsies; in the life of a Tuk Tuk driver on the mean streets of Delhi; in the lives of Sufi priests and in the stories of Varanasi boatmen. In these stories resides the often unbroken chain of custom, knowledge and belief that has run for centuries and the true narrative of India.

AJA breaks the traditional pattern of travel. Programs are designed for artists to paint, singers to sing, writers to write, dancers to dance, observers to observe - all in connection and participation with Indian people.

The travel is slow. We choose magnificent locations and stay for 4-5 days, rather than engage in a frenetic succession of buses, airports and whistle stops.
